FERRY
BC Ferries brings you and your land transportation of choice to Village Bay on Mayne Island.  The ferries operate at or near capacity during summer so arrive quite early for your planned sailing. (at least 40 minutes  sometimes).  The off-season sailings are much more laid back.

RIDES

If you need a lift and are travelling without a vehicle, it is very easy to get a ride from a generous someone on the ferry by looking for an "I GIVE RIDES" sign in the dash of their car, or by waiting at the "Carstop" just outside the ferry terminal on Village Bay Road.

The community bus can also meet your group at the ferry and can drop you directly at The Groove.

Payment for the bus is by donation.   To contact the bus phone/text: 250-539-0851          maynebus@protonmail.com

Sunset in Active Pass from Miners Bay Mayne Island

The Groove Studio is steps away from the iconic pier, and Active Pass, one of the most photogenic spots you will find anywhere, rain or shine.

The hikes and walking trails around the island are many and varied, and all culminate in a rewarding view whether high above or at the sea.

Close encounter with a humpback whale - blowoff at 30 feet

You're very likely to see aquatic life of otters and seals, massive sea lions seasonally during their migration, and with some luck the orca, dolphins, or the recently returned humpback whales.

There are no dangerous predators on Mayne Island, which contributes to the vast over-population of deer, who, while minding their own business will step into the path of your car (or bike!) without 'indicating'.

Travel with care and please keep your arms and legs, and any plants that you cherish, inside the vehicle.

On Mayne Island we enjoy fascinating bird life in all sizes.

Hummingbirds, swallows, ravens, eagles and vultures, pterodactyls, juncos and finches, owls, osprey and more.

ADDITIONAL ATTRACTIONS NEARBY

We have stacks of discs on hand if you'd like to head to our local 18 hole disc golf course.  It's short, but high on treed and technical shots.  Makes for a great hour and a half!
